About Kimberly Weddle, Massage Therapist

In December of 2007, Baby Pictures was thrilled to have Kimberly Weddle, LMP, join us in our space to offer massage to our clients as well as anyone looking for massage therapy. Kimberly is a 2001 graduate of Brian Utting School of Massage.  For the last 6 years she has worked in a clinical setting as well as run a private practice.  She has a strong belief that knowledge is power.  She tries to educate her clients on their bodies and give them some insight into why they may have pain as well as teaching them proper home care techniques.   Being a massage provider has helped her to realize that touch can be a very powerful tool.  We don't often realize how many people don't get touched in their daily lives, not even a hug.  Touch can be beneficial in so many ways,  for example if you are being treated for cancer and are constantly being poked with needles, to have a massage and feel pampered can play a tremendous role in one’s treatment.   Kimberly has worked with a broad array of clientele with all different needs.

What are these different types of massage and what are the benefits?

Did you know that pregnancy massage has been proven to reduce complications in pregnancy and labor? Massage during pregnancy can can also relieve the following:

  • Relieves sciatic nerve pain
  • Relieves pain in muscles and joints
  • Eases constipation, gas and heartburn
  • Relieves headaches
  • Relieves leg cramping
  • Relieves round ligament pain
  • Reduces sinus congestion
  • Reduces stress and anxiety
Treatment Work or Medical Massage
Treatment Work or Medical Massage includes PIP (Personal Injury Protection), L&I (Labor and Industries), Post surgery, Sports injury, Cancer patients and that pain in your neck that has been getting worse over the last several years but you just keep ignoring.

Treatment work is to help restore your body to a functional level.  It helps reduce the amount of scar tissue, increase circulation and decrease inflammation to the affected area.  Helps to flush out lactic acid build up due to chronic tension. Massage after a long surgery can help facilitate the healing process and restore affected muscles.

Your body often repairs injuries with scar tissue consisting of tightly matted collagen fiber. These fibers tear and retear easily, making healing difficult and causing your movements to be painful or restricted. Appropriate massage techniques can limit scar tissue formation in new injuries and can reduce, or make more pliable, the scar tissue around old injuries. Your muscles will move more freely and with less pain.

Findings from a recent Group Health research study showed that medical massage therapy helped patients heal faster with less pain and at lower cost than treatment that didn't include medical massage therapy.

Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Structural massage can reduce or eliminate pain and tightness.  You'll notice improvement in your performance, increased range of motion (easier to bend, reach and stretch) and improved circulation.  You'll feel better after the first massage session.  In most cases, after four to six sessions you'll achieve noticeable, sustainable relief.  Most insurance companies cover medical massage prescribed by a doctor.

After vigorous exercise or physical labor your muscles may feel fatigued, stiff or sore. Massage stretches and lengthens shortened muscles and reduces spasm. Its gentle kneading improves circulation which speeds up the removal of waste products that can make you sore, and brings in the oxygen and nutrients your muscles need to rejuvenate. It can help you resume activity sooner, enhance your performance and help your muscles work more efficiently.

Left untreated, an area of chronic (long term) tension can impair performance and even lead to injury when stressed. Deep structural massage loosens areas of chronic tension and helps relieve new areas of tension before they become chronic.

Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is better known as spa massage - a full body massage with focus on what makes you relax.
